Now that the US has had a change in policy regarding travel to and from Cuba, I’ve been fielding a lot of questions. Here is a quick reference on the new regulations for U.S. Citizens traveling to Cuba.
*U.S. Citizens no longer need a permit from the OFAC to travel
*U.S. Banks are allowed to do business with Cuban Banks
*Eventually, credit cards will work in Cuba once the banks iron out the details
*For now, take USD and convert to CUC upon arrival
*U.S. Citizens may travel to Cuba, however, direct commercial air service is not yet available from the States
*Charter flights may be arranged
*You may schedule air service from Mexico, Bahamas, Grand Cayman, Canada, etc.
*U.S. Citizens may spend $100 on alcohol & tobacco
Many tour operators are organizing charter flights and tours to Cuba. I highly recommend an organized tour with a guide in order to experience all the history and flavor Cuba has to offer.
